Check Out Lizzy Bird Beeswax Candles

When I was selling at Bard College the other week, another vendor I checked out was Lizzy Bird.  Lizzy Bird creator, Elizabeth Bryant, makes pure beeswax candles, and botanical bath & body products made with fine, simple organics and wildcrafted ingredients.  I should have included this shop in my Hudson Valley Gift Guide last month as they're based in Red Hook, NY.

I was attracted to her super cute molds and bright colors which included honeybees, pinecones, Buddhas (not included in her Etsy shop).

Honeybee

Aren't these adorable? You almost don't want to light them.  Her candles are 100% natural beeswax from established northeast US beekeepers and uses organic cotton wicks.  The candles are not scented other than it's natural honey scent.

We picked up a little red tree for our home decor Christmas collection....

Redtree

Love it! Each candle is made individually and are smokeless, dripless, and non-allergenic.  You can never go wrong giving a candle as a gift any time of the year.  You can find her Etsy shop at lizzybirdshop.etsy.com.

Holiday Visit With TheBouqs.com

Pulp Sushi loves TheBouqs.com

It's so nice to have some pretty flowers to look at while you work. I use to buy flowers for myself more when I was working in the city. There is a flower stand in Grand Central that always had pretty flowers you can just grab and go while getting to your train.  Those days are over, but when I was contacted by TheBouqs.com about checking out their service, I thought "Sweet!!!"

I picked their Dawn bouquet because something about the colors of the roses made me think of my favorite color shade of fall, remember this picture I shared last month?  Same colors am I right?

Bouqs3

They have a special going on right now for Fall and Thanksgiving - just send at least two bouquets to friends and family and get $10 off your next order. It's a great option if you have friends or family you won't be able to see during the holidays to let them know you're still thinking of them.

Is Your Blog Responsive?

Responsive

I'm here with a PSA for all my blogging friends in case you haven't heard about this neat site. One of the perks of working for Typepad is I get to hear about cool little tools like ami.responsivedesign.is.  It can quickly show you if your website design is Responsive.

Responsive design provides easy reading and navigation with a minimum of resizing and scrolling whether you're looking at a site on a phone, tablet, or desktop.  With my old blog layout, when I viewed my blog on my iPhone, it just appeared as a mini-version of my blog where I had to zoom in just to read the text.  Then I switched to one of Typepad's new Responsive themes because I wanted my blog to be easy to read on multiple devices.

I'm much happier with how my blog functions now.  If you're wondering the same with your blog, give ami.responsivedesign.is a try -  it takes seconds and no sign-up required.

Do You Like Creepy Dolls?

Old dolls, you either love them or are creeped out by them. I fall into both categories. I have a collection of Living Dead Dolls but nothing vintage. I will admit that recently those "Annabelle" movie commercials freak me out!

However my "creeping out" didn't keep me away from this cool exhibit going on at Galaxie 13 in Beacon, NY.  The "Creepy Doll Series" includes oil paintings by local artist Lisa Scheffer.  You've been warned.

Just stay home with the "Stay Home Club"

Ah if only more people chose to stay home, there would be less jerks out on the road. Instead I'm the shut in, sorta.

I wanted to show off my new t-shirt from the Stay Home Club - don't look at my face, I look doofy but I was feeling too lazy to put on makeup and Instagram filters to make my face "Blogger Friendly".   Anyway, it's about the shirt right??!

Check out The Stay At Home Club

Check it out, I even got a membership card to make it official! I really love my shirt, it's so soft, it's super soft at 50/50 poly/cotton. I already wore it two days in a row, but it's ok because I was at home. ;)  Check them out and support this wonderful business at stayhomeclub.com and follow them on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

My Autumn Must Haves

After a few days of hazy, hot and humid grossness, I'm happy to see the somewhat mild Summer coming to an end. Autumn is my favorite time if the year. It is the best time for food, fashion, and spooky stuff.

Halloween decorations, pumpkin flavored everything, boots, scarves, tights are on my list of favorite things to look forward to. What a great opportunity to put a guide together.

Screen shot 2014-09-09 at 10.33.18 AM

Of course I'll start with boots! Who doesn't love boots? ModCloth now has "Pumpkin Spice Up Your Life" Boots, no joke, that's the name!  While you're at ModCloth, check out their Halloween shop for costume and decoration ideas, or if you're like me, just to have quirky spooky stuff all year long.

Talk about COZY! Check out this lovely hand knit caplet from Elena Rosenberg.  The detail she puts in her work is simply stunning.

A little more pumpkin for you in the form of Pumpkin Ale Soap from Beyond The Picket Fence. Snatch this up quick!

Wr_grey_small-tote1_originalYou are going to need a big bag when grabbing all of your Fall Harvest goodies at the Farmer's Market.  Look chic with a tote from Jenn Eng

And last, where would you be without some fingerless gloves? Check out adKnits for some gorgeous natural fiber goodies, maybe some boot cuffs for your "Pumpkin Spice Up Your Life" boots? :)

Handmade Soap ♥ With True Lineage

I recently received some lovely samples of soap from a soap making company in Los Angeles, CA, True Lineage. I got two great types: "Grape Fruit" and "Rose Milk".

TL_Soap

I've been using the Grapefruit bar and it's heavenly.  These highly moisturizing soaps are perfect for Vegans as it contains no animal glycerine.  The soaps are naturally fragranced and not loaded with perfumes so they are perfect for people with allergies to fragranced products. Plus look at the pretty packaging! They would make wondering gifts or wedding souvenirs, win!

Tlsoap1

However, for those who love fragrances, a new collection of floral and fruit soaps will be launched soon.

True Lineage will soon be offering soap box service (soaps, oil, and body lotion subscription) to residents of US and Canada.  Follow them to stay updated at their brand new Facebook page.

ModCloth Milestone for Plus-Size Fashion

It was a year ago that I shared ModCloth's new plus-size collection. And now, ModCloth is celebrating a very exciting milestone this week -- the one-year anniversary of officially launching plus-size clothing on their site!

In just one year, they’ve expanded their product catalog with more items that fit all body types. Check out the full-range fashion page in their Style Gallery, which showcases community-uploaded photos featuring ModCloth items that are available in a full size range. Why? Because fashion should be for all!  I thought I play around a little and put together an outfit.  I love me some black, white and red mixed together. :)
