Show Me Your Wall - Ali J

I know it has a been a while since someone has showed me their wall but alas, the very talented Ali J has come to the rescue and has very generously opened her home to us and boy does she have a lot to show. I expect nothing less from this talented Illustrator. You may click on the images for a closer look.

Back_of_Door

This is the back of my door in my new studio space.  I love to close the door and see them.  The artworks from left to right are - Catherine Campbell (Frankie Magazine Poster), Candice Jean, One Peach A Day, Candice Jean , My Charlie Girl, and an artwork by a local artist.

Frankie_Posters

A wall of Frankie Magazine Posters - including Belle and Boo, Kareena Zerefos, Jen Corace, Abby McCulloch and MarmeeCraft

Jewellery_display

I cannot only share illustrations or artwork - I also have jewellery on display. Here in my bedroom I have a canvas panel wrapped with handmade paper featuring a wide display of earrings purchased from a variety of etsy sellers over the past year.

Kitchen_Eat

I wanted to share my rather different kitchen. It is tiny, and used to be bright yellow. Using a soft mint green, chocolate brown and soft cream in paint colours I painted a rather modern and abstract pattern across the walls. Above the cutting board the wall tells you quite simply to 'eat'. A little artwork in itself. I'm proud also to say that I hand wrote the words, I think it is pretty cool.

Lounge

My loungeroom. I was watching Law and Order Criminal Intent at the time. I like to watch crime on TV and sketch or draw. Especially longer episodes where you can just listen to what is happening, and you don't necessarily have to see it visually. Above the TV I have a mixed media drawing that I purchased from one of my fellow art students in college. Her name was Eloise, and I just adored her work and her ability to create atmosphere. Next to the TV cabinet is a panel tri fold screen with images from past Curvy magazines.

Orchid

I love orchids, so my bathroom has a gorgeous orchid in the corner of the cabinet with some japanese inspired artwork I found at a secondhand store for $1.  It is so calm, it really relaxes me.

Owl_Shelf

This is the wall of my studio space. I have a shelving unit with an owl, some little containers of buttons and one of my prints on a shelf. Then on the wall I have lots of artwork. Some are my own but others are from Abbey McCulloch, Marmeecraft, Scarlettcat, The Black Apple, Belle and Boo.

Postcards

This is the postcard feature part of my wall. All postcard sized works are up here just above my desk. There are artworks of my own along with The Black Apple, Jen Corace, Bindi Booth and many others. It is so fun and lively.

Shelving

Another wall of my studio space. This features a poster by Frankie Magazine drawn by Sean Morris. Then two prints of The Black Apple. I have my Blythe doll, a plush owl from Craftpaca, two plush dolls from Brown Paper Bag, and my large Matroyshka doll.

Foot_Charcoal

One of my charcoal drawings from my time at Art College. I just love the simplicity in the form which is echoed by the way it is display hung simple on a wall with a nail and a clip.

Star_Trek

I'm a Star Trek junkie and not sorry to admit it. The first framed work is of Star Trek Voyager, my favourite of the entire series. The main picture is of all four Star Trek captains. I also have signed cast photographs that I just treasure, just to the left of this picture.

Tri_Fold_Screen

A close up of the tri fold photo screen featuring pages from past issues of Curvy Magazine.

Vintage_Bag

Last of all my bright pink feature wall of my bedroom.  It is more of a scarlett red in colour.  I have a vintage bag hanging up that was my mothers, then I have a little artwork from Kendra Binney.  That was the first item I ever purchased off of Etsy and it also taught me to double check measurements before purchasing!  I hope to own a bigger work of hers in the future.

If you would like to show off the artwork in your home, please drop me a line at pulpsushi [@] gmail.com.

Show Me Your Wall - PULP SUSHI!!!

Just who in the heck do I think I am asking others to show me what's going on in their home and not offer myself up on display? I got a lot of nerve!

So allow me to show you MY wall! Of course, click the images for a closer view.

Img_3046_3

Of course we have to start in the bedroom with my collection from The Black Apple (and growing!).

Img_3153
Besides my bed is a gocco print I ordered from the ever so sweet MarmeeCraft.

The next six pieces are by my boyfriend, Senor Muerto, yeah!

Img_3049

He did some serious Modge Podge action putting this collage of Gil Evgren pinup models on a canvas.

Mmod1

These two he painted for me as presents. On the left is "Pinup Dead Girl" and on the right "Chillin' With Chi Chi the Weenie" - she's got a big butt. :)

Img_3052

This one is in the hallway and I believe it's called "Hot Night In Rio"....because it's suppose to be hell.  If you look up close, you see black shadows in the flames, it's pretty cool.

Img_3054

These last two are in the dining area next to our Shag print (see below).  On the left is "Dance for Frankentiki" and on the right is "The Stroll".

Shag

I purchased this print when Shag was doing his Donna con Bambino exhibit in late 2006.  It has a raven, and an Edgar Allen Poe bust...get it???

More Cupcakes!
3-D art original by Queenie, www.pocketfullofposiez.com. Long-time LiveJournal friend, I was so happy to finally own one of her art pieces.

Show Me Your Wall - Anastasia

The wall this week comes from another lovely Aussie, Anastasia who upkeeps the lovely blog Anastasia Drawing and Dreaming.   We both share a mutual annoyance with cellphones.   She loves to share her inspiration with others and is an excellent artist herself. Also a big time supporter of other Etsy artist, check it out!

In my boys room I have illustrations by Flossy-P and postcards by Applehead and a cheap corkboard for their own artwork.

Here is a painting done by my sister Roulla, a collage from Julie of Hand (Handmaid.etsy.com) and a watercolour floral doodle that I did.

In my family room I have a vintage New Yorker cover from Ebay and family prints.

In my living room I have a framed Monet poster, artwork by Ali J, art work by Christina of Jam Fancy, and artwork by Michelle Caplan

On the mantlepiece is artwork by Sofia Barao.

Show Me Your Wall - Hey Harriet

Another one of my daily reads is Hey Harriet from Brisbane, Australia.  Tracy has a passion for art and it shows in her home (and her blog, make sure you check it out!).

Heyhar1

Photo number 1 – Living Room Wall 1, from left to right: Set of three Josh ‘Shag’ Agle postcards framed. Two shadow box frames with badges. A piece I purchased years ago from a retro/vintage furniture store in West End (it was labelled “c.1960s interactive artwork – artist unknown” the red & white panels can be moved around to change the look of it…hours of fun!). A clock I like the look of but annoyingly it refuses to keep the correct time.

Heyhar2

Photo number 2 – Living Room Wall 2, left: An oil painting a friend (the very talented Natalie Sunderland) did for me, inspired by a Black ‘Barsony’ Lady lamp. Nat has gone on to do a series of these Barsony Lady paintings. Right: is a painting called “Tingari” by Aussie Indigenous artist Walala Tjapaltjarri.

Heyhar3

Photo number 3 – My Chill-Out Reading Room Wall 1, from left to right: Another oil painting by Nat, this was a 2006 birthday gift (What a super fab prezzie! I LOVE this!). Hanging above the painting is an origami peace crane mobile. Buddhist Prayer Flags hanging in the corner. A painting called “Bush Banana” by Aussie Indigenous artist Ruby Abbott…I love her exquisite starburst patterned paintings!

Heyhar4

Photo number 4 – My Chill-Out Reading Room Wall 2, my collection of Momiji Dolls. Couldn’t tell you how many times this has fallen off the wall, scattering the little cuties all over the room. Yay for super glue!

Show Me Your Wall - Tizzalicious

Today's "Wall" comes to you from The Netherlands via Tizzalicious. Maartje, but you can call her "Tizz". She makes the most adorable jewelry, accessories, art & softies, for both yourself and Blythe! Check out her Etsy Shop and pick up something cute. Now on to her visuals you'd find in her home....

Tizzroom1 Tizzroom2

1. Moody Bear! I bought him at Con Amore, a cute little shop in Copenhagen. They have a website too: www.cona.dk

Tizzroom3

These are my fantastic scales and cleaning gloves. The scales are from Con Amore too!

Tizzroom4

The bathroom! The shower curtain is from Lagerhaus in Sweden. Oh how I love that shop!

Tizzroom5

This must be the weirdest thing we own. My boyfriend bought these Commie nesting dolls in Russia. They are so stupid and random, I love them.

Tizzroom6

Pin Up posters! I love Pin Up stuff, aside from these and the scales I also have pillows, a calendar, some random postcards all over the apartment, coasters,... :)

Tizzroom7

Err, this is slightly embarrassing. It's out "Who breaks the most" score board. As you can see, I'm the clutz around here!

Tizzroom8 Tizzroom9

My desk! It's more a collection of cuteness than a desk, but hey ;)

Tizzroom10

This tin is so cute. I bought it in a tiny store full of awesomeness in Sweden. I use it to store finished products for Etsy and Tizzalicious.com.

Show Me Your Wall - My Aim Is True

I have admired Amber's eye for design for a while now. I hope she doesn't think I'm a stalker. I remember seeing photos of her craft room and I started day dreaming that that was MY craft room. But I digress, naturally I reached out to her to share what kind of artwork this talent shows off in her home.

Amber

The vintage print is from a thrift store but the other two are by Renee Garner of Wolfie & the Sneak. You can view her stuff here.

Speaking of stalking.....

Show Me Your Wall - RuralAbandon & Janeofalltrades

Here's a treat!  How about a two-fer Show Walls exhibit for today.  First we will start with...

    Ruralabandon2Ruralabandon1

RuralAbandon is Kelly's Etsy shop where she sells gorgeous, excellently crafted jewelry.  So what does Kelly have for us (it's a fascinating story)?

First is a shot of one wall in my studio. The large picture is oil on paper done by Armenian artist Ashot Avagyan. I purchased 4 paintings from his studio in Sissian, Armenia. His paintings have rich textures and color and symbols found in ancient petraglyphs in the mountains near his home. The second picture in the shot is a painting done by a 6 year old child from Aparan, Armenia. This painting was part of a collection that toured the United States in the 80's during a Soviet and American Youth Art exchange.

In the late 90's I worked for an organization that organized the exchange and we were able to decorate our offices with art from the collection. Sadly CONNECT/US-RUSSIA (the organization) closed its doors this past year and I went back to the formal farewell party and the Director let me take some of the art home with me. This was one of the pictures I had in my office when I worked there. I have a few others displayed in my house as well...I just love them!

The second photo was purchased at the Art Market in Yerevan, Armenia. The artist is A. Vahramian and it was painted in 2003. His work is whimsical with textural details. I lived in Armenia for almost 4 years and was in heaven due to the sheer number of great artists selling affordable art.

Learn more about Kelly at her blog Indie Insider.

    ==============================================================================

Melisa runs Jane Of All Trades where she sells really tasty goodies as well as retro, kitchy accessories.  I've been LiveJournal friends with her for a looooooooooong time and whose photography I enjoy looking at.

    Ambrosia

It's not much, because it's a narrow wall, but I chose it because it is one artist for both pieces.  Both models are covered in milk and this wall is in my kitchen.  The artist name is Elisa Lazo de Valdez and her work can be found here: visioluxus.com

I really love her work and have about 5 pieces hung in my house and have to frame one or two more, still.

Show Me Your Wall - A Fanciful Twist

There is an ongoing art theme for today.  How exciting to have my fairy Blog Mother take part.  Here is Vanessa from A Fanciful Twist.

    Vanessa_valencias_wall_6 Vanessa_valencias_wall_5

The wall with the four plates holds a small portion of my John Derian Collection.  LOVE HIM!

    Vanessa_valencias_wall_1_2 Vanessa_valencias_wall_3_2
    Vanessa_valencias_wall_2_2
    Vanessa_valencias_wall_4_2

The wall With The Black Apple treasures holds the following.

From left, top to bottom. Left column:  Top, Emily Martin Original.  Bottom, "Be Warned" Vintage Mixed Media art box, created by an artist who made these in the sixties, as part of some huge art movement.  I am told they were known to be combustible.  Now, I hope mine never explodes, eek.  I need to ask the art dealer downtown, who sold it to me more questions about it as I have forgotten.  Either way I looove it!

2nd to Left Column:  Top, Emily Martin Original ink drawing.  Middle, Emily Martin Original painting.  Bottom, Xenia Schmidt original.

3rd to left column:  Xenia Schmidt Original 4th to left:  Top, Sculptural heart with a hey hole and a vintage key.  I have had it for 20 years.  Don't know who made it.  Bottom, Emily Martin Original. Last column:  Xenia Schmidt Original.  Pink Felt key by Somethingshidinghere.etsy.com ( I had lots of mustaches by them, but I gifted them all, darn :)

Once again, if you would like to participate and show me what you got, please drop me a line at pulpsushi@gmail.com

Show Me Your Wall - Fleeting Moments

Megan runs the website Fleeting Moments and a fellow Yogini. She recently moved into her new, beautiful home and I'm so excited about her sharing her art with us.

    Fleet1

The large framed landscaped Photography is my dear friend Ralph Evans. He is an incredible photographer, and incredibly lazy at promotion. I've recently told him that I'm going to build his website so he can sell a few. I have several signed prints that I treasure, and put several places in my home. I love photography and have many other artists, some have made it to frames and others sit waiting.

    Fleet2_2

Next is Family Photos. Not on the wall, but always in large groupings all over the house.

    Fleet3_2

Finally is unknown painters. I have an itch when at a thrift store and see a painting done by someone no one knows. I buy them constantly and have several waiting for their perma home on the walls. I am really drawn to water themes.
