Looks like the start of July is already better than June sales-wise.  I reached 300 sales!!

300

But I digress, I'm done celebrating and ready for 301, 302....you get the idea.  I'm really excited to announce that I *finally* ordered some boxes for my items! Yes, no more little baggies in padded envelopes, now you will get little baggies in gift boxes in padded envelopes. Just one step closer to being all professional and stuff. :)

I do have to get something off my chest that has been bothering me. I mentioned previously that one of my sales in June had to be refunded. The reason for this was I sold a pair of stud earrings to someone and when they received it, they were damaged. The post came right off (and I use E6000 glue!!!!) while in transit. This is one of the reasons why I ordered boxes finally, I wanted to for a while, but I was just waiting for the money to spare. I felt really bad because it's not like this package went that far. The Postal Service is sooooooooooo horrible.  So they notified me of what happened and they asked for the money back.

I don't have a return policy in my shop, I prefer to do it on a case by case basis. This is only the second time someone asked for their money back on one of my items. Hopefully this won't happen too many more times. Do any sellers wish to share what they do when something like this comes up?

Etsy/DaWanda Update

I added a couple of items to the shops today..

Yeah I say "shops" because I have a shop set up at Etsy but I also have one with DaWanda which a lot of folks would consider the European equivalent to Etsy. Items are priced in Euros and since I'm not one to leave out the overseas market, and factor in the strength of the Euro, I need to promote that store a little more.

How was everyone's weekend? The highlight for me was checking out The Suburbia Roller Derby. Good friggin' times man!! I ended up enjoying it way more than I thought I would. Plus the DJ was playing A-W-E-S-O-M-E music. I'm already looking forward to the next bout on the 19th. I've had people in the past tell me I should try since I sorta have the build (and the aggression) for it but I'll pass. I bruise easy and I have my heart to think about. I'll just cheer on.

Front Page Does Work!

I don't know if I have ever made the Etsy front page before today...

Front

Within minutes my earrings sold and I gained 12 hearts. Big thank you to my fellow Etsy team member ShutterKate for including me in her super-neat treasury.

New at Pulp Sushi (Etsy Shop)

Six new items have been added to the Etsy shop today.  I absolutely love my new stash.

So how was your weekend?  The weather here is just strange, one minute the sun is out and the next you hear thunder and the sky is dark, then the sun is out again, then rain.  You just can't predict the weather anymore. I'm staying in, maybe being on the computer is not such a good idea? Hmmm...

What's new at Pulp Sushi

A couple of things going on that I want to share, first off there's new items added to the Etsy shop! Just one click of the image will take you there.

A couple of necklaces and a cute pair of earrings. I've had these polkadot beads for a while now and have been dying to incorporate them some way.

I'm really excited to let you know that InsideOut has featured me in their June 2008 issue. InsideOut is an online fashion magazine set up as a MySpace profile that is updated every month featuring upcoming artist and designers. I was stoked to be asked to be a part of it. Click below and scroll down to see the article by Angela.

Don't forget to add them as a MySpace Friend!!!

I'm not bitter

Yup! This weekend is The Renegade Craft Fair again and even though I didn't get in, of course I'm still gonna go. I just hope it doesn't rain like they say it might. "They" meaning those who get paid to be WRONG 98% of the time. I will be there camera in hand. Some folks from The {NewNew} will be selling and I plan to stop by the usual spots to stock up on stuff (ie: Biggs & Featherbelle). Rain or shine, it will be a good time!

In shop talk, I received an Etsy convo from a business asking if I would willing to make FORTY (that's 4-0) of my Daisy Ring. I respectfully turned them down because 1)I only have 1 flower cap and white button to work with, 2)That's a lot of gluing, 3)I've been offered stuff like this before on a smaller scale and it always falls apart so I will not even put in the energy into it this time around, and 4)Poor timing on their part unfortunately.

I have less than two months left at my current job and I'm trying to wrap things up there.  I would like to take a nice vacation with the boyfriend in August (it's our SEVEN year anniversary!) but I have not decided where yet.  He's open to just about anywhere. I have a few places in mind but it doesn't help to turn on the news every night and hear about how much the air travel industry is deteriorating. I don't want to spend half of my vacation at JFK!! Decisions decisions.

New at Pulp Sushi (the Etsy shop)

Added over the weekend...

I had also made some more Pulp Pinup Girl buttons but they already sold!! So I gotta make some more of those soon. We're in the middle of a heatwave here in New York which makes my brain sluggish and pretty unmotivated. It's suppose to go up to 100 degrees today. I know for some of you, 100 is nothing but for me + serious humidity is pretty damn nasty. I also have a dentist appointment later this morning to finish some work she started last week. Ugh! I'm just gonna drink lots of water today, maybe have a smoothie for lunch and try to stay as cool as possible.

New at Pulp Sushi (the Etsy shop)

Update0602

New items added this week to my Etsy shop. I liked the Midnight Blossom earrings so much I made myself a pair.   Since I've grown to like the idea of monthly goals, here they are for June.

  • 25 Sales (this includes DaWanda but I hardly sell on there)
  • 50 new heart (currently at 639)

Last week I featured the awesome decals from BadassCustomDecals.etsy.com and David and Alicia were happy to be featured on the site and they want to thank YOU dear visitors by offering 10% off your purchase. Just mention during check-out that you found out about them reading Pulp Sushi!

  • May 31, 2008

    Uh oh..Gripe time!

Last month I published my first set goals for the shop, it was to gain 25 more hearts and 25 sales.  I met my Hearts goal and then some! 78 more!  Sales only 19, I shouldn't say "only" that's still pretty good. It should be 20 but I had to cancel a sale since someone didn't realize that they need PAY for the item.

Can I vent for a second? I don't understand people who go through the trouble of Checking Out but then never pay.  It is a hassle to cancel a sale. In the past I have found that when I report it, Etsy would drag their feet to fix it.  Sometimes I would have to request it more than once.  Now I am in a weird predicament.

I sold a bracelet, buyer never paid, so I canceled and re-listed it. I am still waiting for my fees to be refunded. In the meantime, someone else purchased the same bracelet yesterday and now I am waiting a payment from them.  If you can't pay by PayPal that's fine but TELL ME when I get in contact with you that you are paying by check or money order.  Is that too much to ask?  Anyway, I will give this person a couple more days to pay or at least saying SOMETHING to me about it.  I would never purchase something on Etsy or bid on Ebay if I didn't have the funds to cover for it.

Etsy is not that complicated to figure out!!!!  The downside to running your own online business.

    Blue Oscar sighting

Look! A silly blue octopus has been sighted at Sweet Figments. Who told him he could leave my bedroom? Go check it out before he disappears

    Onyx Delight bracelet

Oh hello!! I feel like it's been ages since my last update. For a change I managed to pull myself away from the computer and enjoy the gorgeous weather had in NYC this weekend. I have the sunburnt arms and shoulders to show for it too! Don't worry in a few days the color will look awesome! Being Puerto Rican, I tan pretty kick-ass.

Anyway, even though I didn't technically go away it was still a great little mini-vacation. Central Park, Greenwich Village, walking along the Hudson River, rooftop decks, sailors, and Indiana Jones! Good weekend overall!

Before I went out, I did create a new bracelet that can be found in the Etsy shop. I always go back to Pink and Black combos. It's just so fun to play with! I also had some sales while I was a away so it's back to work and hammer out some new cool stuff!

I'm loving the colors on this Oscar necklace! It's fuscia with green eyes, way girlie for Oscar. :)  But enough with the pinks!

    Blk1

How cool!  A black Oscar with red eyes, and for that extra touch the chain is gun metal.

I seem to have skipped a week with the Flickr goods. It's been a hectic couple of weeks.

So it's a new month and I'm wondering should I even have May goals for my shop? It seems like every month I set a goal (ie: # of sales/# of hearts) but then I forget what they are midway though. It's because I don't write it down! April has been a good month for me - the free shipping offer helped.

    30 sales
? hearts - I'm currently at 558 but I haven't been keeping count of who hearted me in April.

So lets see what I can do in the month of May. My goals are gonna be pretty humble...

  • 25 Sales
  • 25 Hearts

There you have it! It is written, it is published, it will be so!!

    New at Pulp Sushi (Etsy)

Check out the newness this week at Pulp Sushi.

Are those sushi earrings? Why yes they are! I also added a couple more "Mod" earrings with anchor charms.

I think it was last month I mentioned that I need to make more earrings because I had too many necklaces. Now I feel like I have a TON of earrings, but they're so fun to make!  I did make one pair which the following day I was looking at them and I'm not too crazy about.  Does that ever happen to you? You feel like you're on a roll knocking things out 1, 2, 3 but then the later stuff you make you're not as happy with as you were when you first sat down?  Oh well.

    New at Pulp Sushi (Etsy)

Happy Monday everyone!!! Why the heck am I so chipper? It's because I took off today AND tomorrow. I'm treating myself to a four-day weekend.  I'm spreading my cheer to you through the cyberweb.  So I've been working on new stuff for my Etsy shop as well as my consignor, Hey Pretty Cupcake/Cutie Pie Boutique.

New this week with me, first up, some earrings...

A couple more Glamour Skull Brooches and Victorian Rings

And last but not the least, my Wicked Witch Necklace!

    Renegade is a bust

Renegade Craft Fair = REJECTED!! Yup I didn't get in. At least I tried. There will be plenty of other shows. Of course I'm still gonna go, take lots of pics and spend some money like I do every year. I'm still excited because I'm gonna have a whole bunch of new stuff to add to the shop in the coming days that I can't wait to show everyone. Here's a sneak peek...

    New at Pulp Sushi (Etsy)

Good morning! I hope everyone had a nice weekend. Look what cuties snuck back into the shop?

I got a couple more of the Little Ladies available for sale.   Along with more sets of Pinup Girl buttons and another pair of Teal Ivory Earrings.  There is still more to come! I got some more neat supplies over the weekend that I would like to work on.  Not enough time in the day I tells ya!

Parlez-vous français? I took French my freshman year of college and barely passed, I was horrible. There was nothing sexy about the way I butchered that language.

In the latest issue of Bust magazine, they mention the blog The Cherry Blossom Girl. Knowing it was going to be in French, I still had to check it out.  What a beautiful site! Alix loves fashion and photography and she loves sharing it. You can tell she has a lot of fun with her camera. What a treat!
