I absolutely LOVE SaucyDwellings on Livejournal. You can click for a larger view. Here are some of the latest entries that caught my eye.

While we're on the subject of people's homes and how to make them look pretty, Indie Fixx is having a Spruce up your Place: Indie Home Decor Challenge

Click the link above for details. You know I love the idea of Mood Boards and one day, yes one day, I will put one together. I've been tearing out random pages from magazines features photos lovely decorated rooms. My plan is to put them all in a binder and have my own "Dream Book".
Do you keep a inspiration board, book, box?
I'm almost ashamed to admit this, but a couple of years ago I had a couple of Cacti plants and I totally killed them. They were tiny! I didn't think I was watering them too much until they deflated one day like a balloon. Too bad I didn't have one of these...

Baby Grobal: The Cutest Self-Watering Plant Pot Ever
I belong to a LiveJournal community called SaucyDwellings. It is a place where people can showcase their rad pads while people like me can sit and gawk at their awesomeness. Today someone posted the cutest, KITSCH lovers dream of a dwelling and I just loved it! Then I saw this...
Do you see them? Click the image and take a closer look....
They used old radios to pot plants! I've never seen this before. So I searched for more examples of this online and no luck. Yup, this is a first. I don't even think You Grow Girl talks about it. Wow! Just wow!
UPDATE: The owner of this home just sent me this, Electrorganic!
Oooooh it's that time of the year again for Apartment Therapy to host their I've Got Color! Contest. I always enjoy their contest, they're very inspiring even though you wouldn't think so looking at how boring my place looks. I like colors, I really do!!! Anyway, I'm sure I'll be voting away and chiming in my two cents when I see an entry I really like (or don't like). I did that with my old PS blog, that was fun. It gives me something else to talk about besides hocking the stuff I make for Etsy.
I just finished reading Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult. As always, I enjoy reading her stuff but when I get to the end of the book I want to tear the pages out. I have read four of her books and I feel the same way every time. She's an EXCELLENT writer and tells a wonderful story, but I feel like she doesn't know how to end it, how to wrap things up. Oh by the way, so and so did this. HUH???? It leaves you with that kind of feeling of having the rug pulled from underneath you. Maybe that's her nitch. I'm sure I'll read more of her stuff.
I'm taking a page out of Making It Lovely and put this little piece together. It was kind of fun. I should do an entire dream house but I might get depressed at how much money all the stuff would cost. I am fixing to get that headboard....this weekend. No more headboardless beds for me!
Not that I am in the market, because I'm not, for a new home but every now and then I like to look at listings, just to see what's out there and get a taste of how much I'll be looking to spend. I came across one listing and fell in love with the look of this home. So cute! So retro! So funky! I wanna meet the people selling this house, observe:
I'm loving these colors!!! Normally I would hate the color of the rug but it is working in this room.
This reminds me of the kind of bedroom I dreamed of having when I was a little girl sharing a bedroom with my older brother...bleh! My taste has changed but looking at this still makes me nostalgic.

I only wish there were bathroom and kitchen images for me to drool over.
And the winner for the most tacky-decorated apartment goes to....this place. What the hell is going on here? Plastic, white, columns, that bathroom is so ugly it's not even worthy of my poo...sorry but it's true.
Time for some CUTENESS! You like mint? Basil? Oregano? How about growing your own in a little Tater Pot? Fredflare.com is just a cesspool of cutesy items for your home and your closet. If I wasn't planning on moving out, I would so get these and grow them on my balcony but why get more things just to pack up a couple of months later? But still, how cute!
Following up with my last entry, I made a pit stop to Daffy's looking for some Mother's Day gifts where lo and behold...
$12 and it was the last one in the store! So now my coffee table is clear and I am happy! Don't laugh at my National Allergy newsletter thingie. I got it from the doctor, it's been a bad season for me.
I came across a most lovely website, Unclutterer. It's a blog dedicated to getting organized and staying that way. This is something I always try to strive for. I was especially drawn to the reader question about magazine clutter. This hit very close to home to me, my coffee table to be exact.
I only have 2 magazine subscription, Yoga Journal which I keep every issue of, and Adorn Magazine. My place of employment is at a magazine that publishes weekly, which means I get to bring home a free magazine every week. Said employer also puts out a monthly travel magazine which I also bring home for free. The yoga studio I practice in gets freebie copies of Fit Yoga magazine, which I always make sure I grab a copy of. Also, from time to time I like to enjoy New York Magazine but not enough to get a subscription. So we're talking about 6 different magazines I bring home.
There is a corner on my coffee table that is a stack of magazines still waiting to be read by my boyfriend. It's not that he doesn't read them, it's just not quick enough to lessen the load as more zines come in. This is driving me crazy. It is an eyesore. I hate it, I want it to go away! I've thought about baskets to keep under the table but I don't think that would look good. I've thought about a little tote like the one pictured here to keep next to the couch. I have a place for my yoga magazines, it's in my bedroom....in a milk crate, a little tacky looking but it makes a hell of a magazine shelf! No milk crates for the livingroom, I promise. Any other suggestions?
I must get my hands on this. It is a Idyllic Table Garden I do not know when I will have a patch of land to test out my green thumb in, so this is the next best thing. Very zen-like! I need a little bit of Zen in my life right about now.
Lokha Samasta Sukino Bhavantu
I'm chanting.
File this under the "Why didn't I think of that?"...
I so want one!!!
I also came across a new blog, Desire To Inspire for those of us who like to look at photos of swank homes and draw inspiration from them, check it out!
