Check out the newness this week at Pulp Sushi.

Are those sushi earrings? Why yes they are! I also added a couple more "Mod" earrings with anchor charms.

I think it was last month I mentioned that I need to make more earrings because I had too many necklaces. Now I feel like I have a TON of earrings, but they're so fun to make! I did make one pair which the following day I was looking at them and I'm not too crazy about. Does that ever happen to you? You feel like you're on a roll knocking things out 1, 2, 3 but then the later stuff you make you're not as happy with as you were when you first sat down? Oh well.
I first came across Shrinkle on MySpace and thought Really cute! But I'm not in the demographic... Yes I consider myself an old fuddy-duddy but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate fun, bright, and youthful pieces. Trashy clothes for classy ho's!! C'mon you know you love it!!!

I began designing clothes under the name Shrinkle back in 2002 while I was a journalism student at Cal State Hayward. After graduation, I ditched the idea of ever pursuing a career in journalism when I realized I couldn't pry myself from my sewing machine long enough to apply for a "real" job.
You know what I also enjoy seeing? When people take their shops seriously and what I mean by that is presentation. I love how these pieces are presented. It's not just a girl standing in her bedroom. You can see time and thought was put into this and I respect that in an up and coming business/designer.

You can stay in the know by checking out her MySpace page and LiveJournal.
Check out my tutorial at The {NewNew} Etsy Team Blog on how to make bottlecap magnets. I might be shooting myself in the foot posting this. These are a pretty popular shop item but it's my contribution to the Earth Day theme the blog has kept this month. Ya know, recycle, reuse, all that crap! :) Seriously though, I have been wanting to post a "How To.." for a while now and this was the perfect opportunity. While you're there, check out the other great entries posted by other team members. Craftzine.com has already picked up a couple of the stories so woohoo go team!!
Look at that fruit salad for $3.99!!!
How wonderful! Today's walls are shared to us by Jennifer Ramos, Designer & Owner of Made By Girl. She makes colorful, gorgeous cards and posters featuring her designs. One of her prints available she displays in her kitchen:

Recently she posted on her blog a little art project she was working on for her home, here's the final result:

The frames were purchased at a very afforable price at Michael's. She recently posted more pictures of her beautiful home at her blog which you must must must see!

Happy Monday everyone!!! Why the heck am I so chipper? It's because I took off today AND tomorrow. I'm treating myself to a four-day weekend. I'm spreading my cheer to you through the cyberweb. So I've been working on new stuff for my Etsy shop as well as my consignor, Hey Pretty Cupcake/Cutie Pie Boutique.
New this week with me, first up, some earrings...

A couple more Glamour Skull Brooches and Victorian Rings

And last but not the least, my Wicked Witch Necklace!
It's time go with someone a little more local for this week's FEF. Plus I'm always excited to showcase male Etsy sellers (it's not just girls fun), but I digress....Check out Flux Productions, a designer from Brooklyn, NY (Fort Greene).

Ryan studied art Pratt Insititute and Cooper Union in NY and began using clothing as his canvas and he went from there. He used organic cotton for a light airy comfortable feel. He makes for the fellas too!
Flux is a small company which emphasizes care and craft rather than mass production. Every piece is printed by hand in my Fort Greene studio and each piece is unique.

Another one of my daily reads is Hey Harriet from Brisbane, Australia. Tracy has a passion for art and it shows in her home (and her blog, make sure you check it out!).

Photo number 1 – Living Room Wall 1, from left to right: Set of three Josh ‘Shag’ Agle postcards framed. Two shadow box frames with badges. A piece I purchased years ago from a retro/vintage furniture store in West End (it was labelled “c.1960s interactive artwork – artist unknown” the red & white panels can be moved around to change the look of it…hours of fun!). A clock I like the look of but annoyingly it refuses to keep the correct time.

Photo number 2 – Living Room Wall 2, left: An oil painting a friend (the very talented Natalie Sunderland) did for me, inspired by a Black ‘Barsony’ Lady lamp. Nat has gone on to do a series of these Barsony Lady paintings. Right: is a painting called “Tingari” by Aussie Indigenous artist Walala Tjapaltjarri.

Photo number 3 – My Chill-Out Reading Room Wall 1, from left to right: Another oil painting by Nat, this was a 2006 birthday gift (What a super fab prezzie! I LOVE this!). Hanging above the painting is an origami peace crane mobile. Buddhist Prayer Flags hanging in the corner. A painting called “Bush Banana” by Aussie Indigenous artist Ruby Abbott…I love her exquisite starburst patterned paintings!

Photo number 4 – My Chill-Out Reading Room Wall 2, my collection of Momiji Dolls. Couldn’t tell you how many times this has fallen off the wall, scattering the little cuties all over the room. Yay for super glue!

Last night I headed out to Brooklyn to attend a swap with my fellow {NewNew} team members. It was at Joannetracydesigns home which was the envy to everyone, it was a gorgeous space.
I brought some stuff I purchased ages ago that never ended up using (ie: ribbon, jewelry string, cardstock) and I left with a bunch of neat beads courtesy of BrooklynSoul and an earring display! Not to mention the yummy cookies and good company. There were a whole bunch of us there and I could plug them all but it's easier to just check out the team blog and see the talent there.
Oh yeah, that's me in the black sweater, always dressed in black it seems. The lady I'm speaking to is also named Marilyn. Her shop is Vyphuisdesigns, she makes children's clothes.
I gave a little sneak peek of the shop updates a couple of days ago, well here they are, meet the NEW!!

And don't forget I'm still offering FREE SHIPPING for the whole month of April! Mother's Day is fast approaching so the free shipping is just to help you out some. :)

It was very difficult for me to pick which images to use for this entry because Wildewear from Boston, MA has SO much to choose from.
Sweaters and knitwear are artful one-of-a-kind creations with eco-friendly mindfulness. Each piece is uniquely handmade using an imaginative array of recycled sweaters, new and vintage embellishments and buttons. May we all be inspired to be mindful and recycle in creative ways.

Gorgeous casual wear for all walks of life.

So if you have a moment, visit our blog, scroll down a little and click the little "Venuszine YOUrls" button. The more people we refer the better and we have only until APRIL 20th!!!Who is Bitter Betty? Well, she has an an Etsy shop and great blog full of tutorials and thrifting delights.

Feel free to direct any further questions on the rest of the pieces to Bethany.
I belong to a LiveJournal community called SaucyDwellings. It is a place where people can showcase their rad pads while people like me can sit and gawk at their awesomeness. Today someone posted the cutest, KITSCH lovers dream of a dwelling and I just loved it! Then I saw this...
Do you see them? Click the image and take a closer look....
They used old radios to pot plants! I've never seen this before. So I searched for more examples of this online and no luck. Yup, this is a first. I don't even think You Grow Girl talks about it. Wow! Just wow!
UPDATE: The owner of this home just sent me this, Electrorganic!Good morning! I hope everyone had a nice weekend. Look what cuties snuck back into the shop?

I got a couple more of the Little Ladies available for sale. Along with more sets of Pinup Girl buttons and another pair of Teal Ivory Earrings. There is still more to come! I got some more neat supplies over the weekend that I would like to work on. Not enough time in the day I tells ya!

Parlez-vous français? I took French my freshman year of college and barely passed, I was horrible. There was nothing sexy about the way I butchered that language.
In the latest issue of Bust magazine, they mention the blog The Cherry Blossom Girl. Knowing it was going to be in French, I still had to check it out. What a beautiful site! Alix loves fashion and photography and she loves sharing it. You can tell she has a lot of fun with her camera. What a treat!

Now that Spring is here, this is where I pay the most attention to fashion, sure I may be late in the game as folks are already designing NEXT Spring's lines but I thought that this month I would feature the many talented clothing designers you will find on Etsy. Yes you can find high quality pieces to wear browsing through Etsy and a first place to visit is Malam.

Marie is a French designer from Paris who enjoys using ancient, rare, vintage or unexpected fabrics, hand embroidery, paint, antique lace, prints, quilting for her unique pieces. Her clothing is child-like and very playful but still with a darker grown up twist (see her signature Goblin hoods). I just adore her short jackets.

If you want to see more, and why wouldn't you? Check out more of her line at www.poupees-perdues.com.
