A Monday ME Entry

Chaosconcept Wow! It is not often I get a decent lunch from my work cafeteria anymore.  Today I am having smothered chicken with spinach and it's damn friggin' good! Question, what makes a chicken smothered?  Is it just the act of drowning it in gravy?  The spinach is awesome. I only got into spinach maybe less than a year ago. I can't believe I've deprived myself of it.  Now if only I could get my boyfriend into eating it. I have to give him credit, he has turned me on to eating foods I would never have eaten before as well as being more health-conscious of what I eat (although yoga helps that too). I'm still bad every now and then, like tonight I plan to have left over buffalo pizza for dinner. Yup.

Have you visited The Chaos Concept?  It looks like Oscar made an appearance, you go boy!  I did some work on a couple of octopus plates yesterday and *hopefully* I can debut their new look soon. I am just waiting to see how they dry, oh yes, there was some moistness involved in their makeover.

Natalie from Bake & Destroy introduced me to a website where you can take your digital images and make them look older. I took this with my favorite mug this morning. I love the look. I'll be playing with this more I'm sure.

Oh yeah! The site! Dumpr.net!

Friday Etsy Finds - Sunnybuick

This week's FEF was introduced to me by a long time LiveJournal friend who frequents the land of Etsy, not to mention she finds some great stuff. But enough about her, let's get to this week's find! Sunnybuick.etsy.com!!!

Sbuick2

I'm sure I mentioned this in the SwallowKisses entry but I'll say it again, I love, love, LOVE me some tattoo art!!!  If I had the funds, I would be covered and some of those pieces would be artwork by Sunny Buick.  I would also ask her to do the tattoo, as she is also a wonderful tattoo artist.

Sbuick3 Sbuick1

In her Etsy shop you can find original paintings, prints, dolls and buttons.  She is a published artist and a contributing writer to several art and tattoo magazines.  She currently lives in Paris but don't let the concern of International Shipping deter you as it is very affordable.  You can check out more of her art and tattoo work on her website, www.sunnybuick.com.

WHAT?????  Ricky????

I think I'm going to cry now.  It's not that I think he's a bad person, he just needs to develop some thick skin if he plans on becoming some big time designer, I don't care what his resume looks like.

When they said what the challenge was going to be last night on Project Runway, I yelled at my television "BORING!!!!!!" The whole episode was product placement for Levi's 501 so the designers  had to construct an outfit using all Levi's denim.   Once again, my favorite did not disappoint me:

Denim

But Rami did not win either, but Ricky did! RICKY!!! Ok, his outfit wasn't bad but Rami's and Christian's were better. It turns out the challenge wasn't so boring afterall. I wish they had this challenge when Kevin was still there. He would have rocked it! But yes, Ricky won the challenge and as a result, this will be available (for a limited time only) at Levi's website....

Denim2

I think I'll pass. This outfit is not meant for curvy gals.

My Take on Heath Ledger

I gotta level with you here, the only Heath Ledger film I've seen was 10 Things I Hate About You. I never cared to see any of his other films and I'm not going to start now.  I have been looking forward to seeing The Dark Knight.  So I'm not going to make it seem like he's one of my favorite actors or something.  Sure I was still shocked when I heard about his death. Any time you hear about a celebrity death it's a bit of a shock, even when it's expected like Anna Nicole Smith.  Hell, the AP is already prepping Britney Spear's obituary. It would be so tragic if it turns out it was accidental, which they are speculating, I hope it was an accident. I feel horrible for the little girl who has lost her father.

Friday Etsy Finds - Needlings

It is time to end your week with some more cuteness.  This week I wanted the FEF to be more kid friendly (which is very out of character for me but I'm in a good mood).   What can be more safe that plushies?

Needling1

These adorable little creatures are created and handstitched by Heather from Needlings.etsy.com (Hamilton, Ontario).  Each one comes with a name tag and story so you can get to know them a little better and love them just a little more.  You can even wear them!

You can follow Heather and her blog heathersendeavours.blogspot.com.

PR Bullets

Avant

I do not have much to say about last night's episode. I *get* the whole avant-garde couture but at the same time I don't get it.

Another of my favorites, Kit, was eliminated but I understand why. She didn't fully embrace the challenge and someone with her creativity could have gone crazy-nuts with it but she didn't for whatever reason.

Why is Ricky still there?

I felt sorry for Sweet Pea.  She was soooo excited to be paired up with Rami but it turned into a nightmare, tears included.  I liked her ready-to-wear dress. I may think she's a flake but I still believe she makes the clothes I would most likely to wear.

Rami is still my favorite, even though he's thick-headed.

I refuse to comment on Christian.  I just don't like him but he makes good television, I'll give him that.

Chris is kind of growing on me. I guess since he was given a second chance, he's not screwing around this time.  Wouldn't it be something if he actually wins this thing???

Polyvore Anyone?

Today has been one of those days where you ask, "Why did I get out of bed????" But now it is lunch time and thanks to Miss Cedar of Indulgences, I found a new site to play with.  I put these outfits together myself...

The second set was suppose to be called "Geek Chic" but it turned into some Smurfette outfit, but I still like it. Go add me as a contact!

I need to get more hats and dresses in my wardrobe.  Fashion on the brain has me prepped for Project Runway tonight! Look forward to more Polyvore sets every week. :)

In With The NEW!

Like the sign says! A bunch of new items have been added to the shop.  If you are into funky, kitschy necklaces, you better go check it out! There is still more to be added. I'm just happy to be back into the swing of things.

Newjan08_2

That is just a small sample.  I also added this cute little item....

Brun1

Her name is Susie and she wants to come home with you. She even wore her special blue eyeshadow for you.  More of these will be added to the shop shortly.

Friday Etsy Finds - SwallowKisses

Even though there are 684 televisions shows dedicated to tattooing, there are still some folks who may be a little squeamish under the needle and lets face it, Sleeve Tees are just straight up corny and will get you laughed at.  However, you can still have an appreciation for traditional tattoo art and adorn it nicely without the permanent commitment.

Meet SwallowKisses.etsy.com from Chicago!

Kathy from Swallow Kisses brings you tattoo inspired necklaces, earrings, pins, and more accessories for people AND pets, because your animals have to look rad too.

All artwork is made by Kathy who is an art teacher.  Also, just to throw this in because I think this is just TOO adorable, her dad has an Etsy shop at OldWorldCarvings.etsy.com, go pay them both a visit!

Spooks & Fashion

Wednesday night is my TV Night.  It is the only night of the week where I have control of the boobtube and last night was sweet.

First was the premiere of Ghost Hunters International. They were in England & Scotland (two places I am DYING to visit). I think the team leaders, Robb and Andy worked really together.  I am a big fan of the TAPS team.  I love stuff like this.  Ghost, monsters, aliens, I just eat it all up.  I am a skeptic but I want to believe, I really, really do!!!!

Next, Project Runway. Waaaah! Kevin got the boot.  He was one of my picks (I never said I was good at this) but yeah his dress was pretty bad.  This week the challenge was to design a prom dress for a group of teens. I am actually surprised that my favorite this week came from Chris!

Talk about the PERFECT color!!!! I love this green, it's perfect for her skin tone and it fits her beautifully. You can tell this young lady feels like a movie star on the red carpet in this gown. Come to think of it, Chris should have won! I didn't like Victorya's (the winner) dress but I can see how her design was more youth-oriented. I can't relate, I'm not a youth.

I would say I felt sorry for Christian dealing with such a difficult model, but I'm not. His cocky-ass deserved to be handed a slice of some humble pie.

Busy Bee

Girl20craft I was working my not-so-little toosh last night getting ready for my Grand Re-Opening on Monday.   I put a few things together that I'm pretty happy with.  I really feel like I've found my nitch and look forward to seeing what more I bring out.  My stuff is definitely more catered to the younger crowd and Punk Rock Mom's who don't want to grow up. :) I'll be working on more stuff throughout the week.  I didn't want to do it all in one night.

I want to keep this blog light-hearted but I wanted to express some thoughts on what is going on with the current election. There has been a lot of pressure for the last 4 years to already choose the next president. I know we are dying to get the current administration out of office but let's stop and think here for a minute.  Let's not make the same mistake we made before.  As of right now, I don't like any of the candidates. I lost track of who supports what a long time ago.  I need to get back into the game and read up on where these folks stand with issues that are important to me.  Then again, is it how they REALLY feel? All these folks flip-flop depending on who is in the room.  This really sucks.  I wish I could go back to the days of being a kid when things like this didn't mean anything to me.

I will say that I am concerned about the "young/first-time" voters who are jumping on the Obama wagon.  I hate how easily manipulated they are by the media. Journalist will use terms like "Rockstar reception" and they just eat it up saying "Yeah! He's young like us! I'm voting for him!" Um no, he's closer to my age than yours and I don't think I can relate to him.   Besides being charasmatic, he hasn't shown me anything.

Honestly, if I can mesh John Edwards and Mike Huckabee into one Huckawards creature, I would. Either way, I'm still skeptical about everyone.

Are we hungry yet?

Picture_2I go through my "Pulp Reads" links daily because I admit that I am a blogaholic.  I am always looking for new blogs to become addicted to.  Today I came across a wonderful, foodie website that I must share, Picky Palate.  I almost went into a diabetic coma scrolling through the entries.   Reeces Peanut Butter Banana Bread, Blackberry Cream Cheese Muffins...but it's not just sweets.  Jenny offers some yummy, yummy pasta dishes, sandwiches, and more. I'm sure I'll feature her over at Cupcakes & Yoga eventually.  She considers herself an amateur cook who also experiments in food photography.  It looks like she is a natural to me!!

Friday Etsy Finds - Buttonpom

Time to end the week talking about Etsy (again). This week's find is Buttonpom.etsy.com from Minneapolis.  Let's face it, image is everything and we all want to be unique.  I love accessories that are bold and bright.  Sometimes the smallest things can bring us the most attention, like whipping out this adorable Apple print bi-fold wallet the next time you're at check-out.

Maybe you want something a little bigger and flashy, this pleated Shoulder/Handbag might do the trick.  Definitely a lovely Spring/Summer bag to bring to the beach, picnic, or window shopping.  It is really cold out today so my mind is already thinking of sunnier days ahead.

Whatever your style, Buttonpom will have a pretty pattern to suit you.

Yay Rami!

Now that I'm taking a break from plugging away my Etsy shop, that leaves me time to write about trivial stuff, like my new found love for Project Runway.  Which you probably will be seeing more of in between craft-related stuff. Did you watch last night? One of my favorites won the challenge, RAMI!!!

This is the winning dress.

The designers were taken to the Hershey's store in Time Square and given 5 minutes to grab as much stuff to use as material for an outfit. The skirt? All Peppermint Patty wrappers. The top? I believe he said it was vinyl from a Twizzlers item, I can't remember if it was a bag, pillow, banner, something else, definitely Twizzlers....I love Twizzlers.  He did such an awesome job tying all the colors together, I can't believe he pulled all of this off in one day.

First Post of 2008!

Here is my first entry for the new year and I hope the first day of the year is not an indication of what lies ahead in the next 365 days (it's a leap year you know).  I was hoping to stay home yesterday and relax but my granny neighbor upstairs had other plans for me.  She had her grandkids over and they are VERY LOUD and pretty rotten children.  I don't know them but I can just tell that family sucks. So we had to leave the apartment for a couple of hours before we completely lost our minds and got into a lot of trouble. I keep telling myself It's not every day, it is not every day!

That was yesterday and yesterday is in the past so I must not let it bother me anymore.  Tonight there should be a new episode of Project Runway so I plan to kick back, relax, have a glass of this..

And talk trash to the television.  As of right now, I like Rami, Kevin, and Kit so I'm rooting for those three.  Sweet Pea I'm on the fence about.  I like her designs and she makes clothes that I can see myself wearing but something about her personality is iffy with me.   The rest I am either indifferent about or just don't like at all like Christian. Out come the claws!

I noticed a lot of people did a 2007 recap on their blogs, that's great and all but 2007 was pretty whack year for me with the exception of a couple of things but instead I wish to look ahead. I won't bore you with resolutions as I haven't exactly made any. I just wanna make this the best year I could possibly make it that way this time next year, I can look back and smile.
