I just finished reading Grow Your Handmade Business: How to Envision, Develop, and Sustain a Successful Creative Business and it's what inspired me to devote an entire month on discussing our business and blogs, well for some of us our blog IS our business right?
Kari Chapin covers it all from finding your niche, thinking of a name, and seting goals to the less glamourus work you haven't thought of like whether to delegate work elsewhere (ie: Accountant, Lawyer), figuring out what type of business you are (Sole Proprietor, Partnership, LLC), and how to write a business plan when you're ready to approach a bank for a loan. It is an easy read as Kari's approach is like she's sharing tips with an old friend.
Speaking of tips, the book also features The Creative Collective of other successful shop owners, bloggers, and designers who share their input, insight, and experience in growing their business. Whether you're just thinking about it, already started planning, or open for business, Grow Your Handmade Business is a must have for your library.
