I'm tired of knitting scarves, I wanted to learn how to knit in the round. When I received a fingerless gloves knitting kit from Morehouse Farm, it was time to learn! I love fingerless gloves and wear them all year long - thanks to the freezing office building I work in.
The kit included 1 skein of Morehouse Merino 2-Ply Yarn (sport weight, 225 yards) and instructions. If you are not familiar with knitting in the round, you may need to hit up YouTube like I did for a crash course on how to even get started as this wasn't explained in their instructions. It's for the more experienced knitter. I got started and was happy to see how easy it was to get going.
Because I'm trying gloves for the first time, I kept it simple and skipped the instructions for the individual fingers and did a button hole for the thumb.
It's not perfect but I'm happy with how this one came out. I'm sure the second glove will look even better. I can't wait to wear my new gloves.
The yarn itself feels so nice and soft. I didn't get that choking feeling I sometimes get when I'm knitting as I think I'm breathing in small pieces of fiber, gross! This yarn is 100% Merino wool and not itchy at all. The 2 Ply yarn I used is sport weight (as oppose to worsted weight) which feels smoother. I would defintely pick up more and they're super affordable at $10.40 in lots of pretty colors. Morehouse Farm is in Red Hook, NY which is less than an hour north from me so supporting a local business is always an added bonus. Hoping some of my Christmas presents this year will involve using some Morehouse yarn!
