So how was YOUR weekend?

I have been at my parents since Thursday night. I finally came home Sunday afternoon.  We lost power up where I live Thursday night and it didn't come back on until Saturday.  My boyfriend came down to city Friday to also crash at my parents where it was nice and warm.  An unexpected weekend in the city so we took advantage.  Saturday we spent the day downtown in SoHo, checked out a bunch of art galleries.

I was bundled up pretty good. Saturday was actually quite beautiful outside.

Such a huge contrast from the day before.  Just so you can see just how much snow we got...

Our car buried under all of the snow fall.  Poor Mike had to dig himself out.

As we were driving home from the train station, I got to see all of the trees that came down as a result of the storm Friday. It looked like a tornado hit the area.   Because of the storm and all of the power outages, the Social Pariah Festival has been postponed until the 27th of March.    

I'm now going to work on uploading some rings I was going to save for the show but I don't want to wait another month.  Plus I have a lot of blog reading to catch up on and update my newsletter for March.

Are you tired of reading complaints about the snow on your Twitter/Facebook/Blog feeds? Too bad, here is one more! =P  Yes we are faced with another snow storm here in New York which started yesterday morning. I'm *DONE* with snow for this year ya hear me???

Thankfully, I was able to make to it my new job alright. Oh that's right! This was my first week at my new job.  Not much to report, just a lot of training and getting situation.  My workspace is pretty bare, haven't made my space pretty yet but I am working on it.  I also face a window with a great view.

Pardon the cameraphone quality.  The sun has not been out since being here but I can't wait to enjoy that too. 

I think The Peach Pit is quickly become one of my favorite Etsy shops. Lately I've been all about inspirational art especially as I feel like things are looking up for me. Although I'm sure a year ago when I was in a dark dark place, if I had known about this shop then, it would have made me feel happy.

Thankfully, this storm should be over tomorrow morning just in time for me to set up shop at The Social Pariah Festival, if last year was any indication, this will be another great way to spend the day. Been looking forward to this for a long time. Hope I can get better pictures this time. Last year was kind of a bust. I'll be there with some members of the Hudson Valley Etsy Team so double-awesome!

Do you know who I'm loving? Lisa sParks from the ever so charming blog, Curious Girl.  I follow her on Flickr and I simply love her photos.  They conjure up a feeling of a subtle kind of happiness. The feeling of getting carried away in a daydream before you snap out of it.

Fruit Loops are probably my most favorite cereal EVER! However, the Target brand Fruit Loops taste exactly like the FL's I had growing up, because it doesn't quite taste the same anymore. Am I the only one that thinks this?

Yesterday I played Hostess for the Hudson Valley Etsy Team at my apartment, it was a nice time and very good discussions were had. It's always good to be in a network and share ideas and brainstorm with others. I'm really excited to be a part of this group. Heh! You can totally see my messy workstation in the back.

Like the new look? It is not a super drastic change but I felt like changing my blog just a pinch, and give it a new name too. If you care to update your links to "Hello Sushi Girl" that would be great, or just leave it as Pulp Sushi. Your choice. :)

Love!!! Now  I have protested for a long time against the use of digital cameras and photoshopping and all that hi-tech stuff...stuff that I have come to embrace and rely on quite frankly.  I am just thankful that there are cool things like this website to bring the old dirty look to images back.  So yeah, expect to see more of these. :)

Yes indeed, it is a happy Friday for a few reasons:

1) It's Friday

2) My Federal tax return was deposited into my checking account

3) Today is my last day working as a Temp.

4) Tonight, I'm going to rock out by seeing The Supersuckers

Back when I was younger, I'm talking LAST CENTURY! I would go see bands live a lot. Punk, hardcore, ska, rock, metal, I've seen a lot.  Now I'm old and the thought of standing in a club for more than 2 hours makes my back hurt. Give me a cup of coffee and a couch! However every now and then I make the attempt when it's a band I really like and who put a smile on my face. The Supersuckers are one of those bands because they love to rock and have been doing it for hundreds of years.  Satan bless 'em!

Valentine's Weekend

As I mentioned in my previous post, the boyfriend and I don't make too big of a deal over Valentine's Day but we did keep ourselves busy this weekend.

Flea market anyone? There was an indoor flea market in Poughkeepsie this weekend. Saturday I went to check it out, why the heck not? I left with a couple of cool items which shall remain top secret but I will show you thing I got for myself.

Yeah this ring is pretty crazy but I kept picking it up and trying it on. Kept coming back to it.  You know how that story ends.  Even though I sell big rings, I haven't started wearing them until recently like my Coral ring. And since this was a flea market, it was a steal!  We passed a place offering $5 burgers that we couldn't pass up either. We were the only folks in the place. Just the way we like it! Overall, Saturday was "Great Deal Day".

On Valentine's Day we went out for a little bit and checked out the Retro Arcade Museum.  I could play pinball all day.  So glad I finally got to check this place out. It was a lot of fun. Then we had a nice dinner at home. The end.

I have some serious beef with Anthony ok? Since Day 1. Maybe I'm a bitch, but I feel like he is trying TOO hard to be funny and likeable. This isn't a bad dress, definitely the best outfit he's made so far but not good enough to win this challenge I think. Here is who I thought should have won.

Ok maybe it was the hair and makeup that ruin Ben's chances but this was the better dress in my opinion. He got screwed.  And who knew Seth Aaron could be so annoying? I was liking him up until this point but I can image getting frustrated working next to someone and trying to concentrate while my neighbor was being a spazz.

Flickr Favorites - Multicolor Madness

This week's Flickr Favorites is brought to you by the color ALL! I am in a playful mood, isn't this fun? I need the pick me up after the walk I just had getting to the office today.  The sun is out but everything is wet, slippery, slushy and grey.

I may, or may not, have gotten this idea from Modish's "C is for Color" inspiration post hee hee! How can you not be inspired by color? Even moreso with the cold weather. A little brightness can warm you up.

We are hit with another snow storm today and I am snowed in at my parents apartment, their tiny 1 bedroom apartment. Hope I don't go stir crazy.

I get it, it's winter, it's February, probably the worst of the winter months but egads, this has to be one of the whitest winters I can remember having here in New York.  It is absolutely beautiful the first and second day. Afterward it gets dirty, and slushy, and grey, and why is that snow yellow???

Although it looks like this lovely lady is enjoying the snow, I would too if I had cute polar cubs to play with as long as they don't scratch me.

Oh yeah, about those buffalo wings I said we were gonna have on Superbowl Sunday. They came out a*w*e*s*o*m*e! My boyfriend was VERY happy with how they came out. He did a great job. We got the recipe from a guy who lives in Rome, NY so the dude knows his wings alright? I felt so unhealthy having this meal, but it was soooo worth it. Especially since the Colts didn't end up winning.

Needle Felting Class Recap

This past Saturday I took a needle felting class at Clay, Wood & Cotton. It was taught by Nguyen Le from KnitKnit.  I just wanted to learn something new and hopefully incorporate it into my jewelry, you know, maybe some felt beads, simple right?  After 2 hours I left with hearts, a bird, and felt sushi! I didn't even make beads, but I now know how. :)

There's that green that I love! We were able to pick two colors so of course it was the first one chosen.  I made a large heart, a smaller white heart, and my sashimi. I wish I got a better picture of it.


I did not waste any time incorporating the white heart into a necklace I ended up making Saturday night.

Here's my little birdie.  I did not think I was going to be making animals but once I understood the technique of "sculpting" the wool, I got it down and now I'm eager to make a bunch of stuff.  I'm already getting ideas for Christmas presents.

More birdies (not by me), the blue was a fellow classmate and the white was a sample brought by Nguyen.

Everyone I took the class with was really into it and we all had a blast.   Some women started to make rings which came out pretty neat.  I will try that some time just for play.


There's the teacher chatting it up with the students afterward.  We were not shy with the questions and Nguyen had a lot of knowledge on the technique.  I am so glad I decided to go.

Enjoy the Super Bowl today if you're into that sort of thing. I kind of am.  In our household we are cheering for the Colts, I know they're the underdog of this game.  We are going to make Buffalo Wings with a new recipe we got, I can't wait!  If football is not your thing, the Puppy Bowl will also be on tonight. Surely you love puppies, if you don't, there's something wrong with you.

PR Recap & Clothes in general

Back in December, I received a gift card from Ann Taylor Loft.  After going to a few stores, I couldn't find anything that tickled my fancy. I am a very picky shopper and my figure is even pickier.  Yesterday I took off from work and bummed around at home.  I decided to visit their website to see if I found anything interesting there and I checked out with the following tops...

This is my favorite shade of green yet I only have a loose flowy skirt.  But I like the twisting of the neckline. That's what drew me to it. The color was a bonus. :)

I love cardigans, you can wear them just about any time of the year and with anything. My goal is to have one in every color. But I didn't have one in Ivory until now.

Now this is a color I have for a few tops but nothing sleeveless which will come in handy when it gets warmer and the city is disgustingly humid.  Plus my new cardigan will look nice with it too.

Speaking of clothes, Project Runway continues to please me. This week's challenge was cool. February is National Heart Disease Awareness month so for Campbell's Soup "adDress Your Heart" campaign.  The dresses had to be predominately red and the Campbell's branding had to be reflected.  Most of the outfits were nice but the dress by Jay was my favorite:

But I think it's because I thought the model was so cute and sweet.  She had such an endearing mom-quality to her.  

And just for the hell of it, here is the dress I hated the most designed by Anna, she did not get booted for this which is forgivable, this is her first strike.

I got a job!!!

After 15 months of submitting resumes and not hearing back from anyone, I am happy to announce that the job search  has come to an end. I interviewed at a Public Relations/Advertising company last week, came back for a second interview Monday, and an offer was made yesterday afternoon. They said I didn't need to get back to them until this coming Monday but honestly, what's there to think about? I accepted on the spot. I'm done with being a temp. 

I can't express how relieved and excited I am.  I have to admit that the last year has been incredibly stressful to the point where the only way I could relieve myself was to simply burst into tears and ask "What is wrong with me? Why doesn't anyone want me?"  But you don't need me to tell you how bad the market has been but sometimes it is hard to look at the bigger picture outside of your own life.  My jewelry helped things a little but you won't see me on Etsy's Quit Your Day Job feature any time soon.  So back to the real world of Human Resources, which was the career path I have been on for years, and starting a new chapter in my life.
