And don't let the door hit ya on the way out!
As much as I want this blog to become more personal, I still put up a wall and keep a lot of things about myself offline. 2009 has been a very trying year for me and I honestly did not want to talk much about it here because I don't want to upset anyone or make it look like I'm seeking pity. I don't wish to bum people out and not want to revisit. I certainly don't care to read a blog where all the person talks about are their hardships.
Finances have been a nightmare this year for me, I continue to struggle finding a steady job and paying my bills, and stress has been taking a toll on me physically. It's been difficult not to become bitter and disheartened at my situation. I find no comfort in being told "Everyone is struggling, you're not alone", I know they mean well. While every day should be considered a new beginning, there's something about a new year to help set your focus and really use it as a chance to change one's attitude.
Not only a new year, but a new decade! It's been said that the 2000's, the 00's, the aughts, whatever you want to call this decade, has probably been one of the worst we have seen. We started this decade in fear - the whole Y2K nonsense, then got a reality check with 9/11, wars, more terrorist attacks, various pandemic scares, Wall Street, the economy, face it, we're all ending this year pretty drained. Yes, I'm done with it all and hope to leave that dark cloud over my head behind. I am hopeful and looking forward to seeing what this next year will bring for all of us.
